Speak of the Devil
I read this book last night, It hit home so hard that I made a promise to myself.
I will not buy another piece of camera equipment until I have a photograph in print or sell a photograph I have taken.
I even had a sweet deal lined up for a new 35mm lens for the Canon RF outfit I was building...
Why do I buy so much camera equipment? Procrastination. Pure and simple, buying and shopping is my way of putting off what I should really be doing, taking photographs.
I only have 12 years until I retire from the Army, I want my second career to be in photography. I have to get off my a** and do something, start now, if I dont I will realize I have retired from the Army and now have to take another job I dont like because I didnt spend my time wisely.
I am sure that there are many reading this that, although probably are not in my exact situation, know what I mean about procrastination and getting up, putting on your shoes, and going out and practicing your art.
I wholeheartedly recommend reading this book, even to those who dont have a desire to express themselves through an art form.
The book is cheap and I have no affiliation to the author, just thought I would share and hopefully it will help someone like it has me.

An excellent read...for great is the spiritual warfare in order to be creative. I second the recommendation.

I won't say that Steven Pressfield's War of Art has totally cured my tendancy to procrstinate, but it's given me a push in the right direction. Highly recommended.
