For much of her life, Devi Asmadiredja was a housewife in Germany - but then her husband told her to pack her bags and leave the country. She ended up 3,000km (2,000 miles) away living in a remote mountain hut among the Chechens of Georgia's Pankisi Gorge.

A very interesting, sad, bizarre story. She is definitely a very strong person to have carved out a life for herself in such adversity.
Edit. Her travel business has a Facebook page. She also has a private page. I wonder is she'll accept a friend request?

I was moved by her misfortunes, and then how she dealt with them in her life. Once I saw that she was a photographer, I decided to post about her here.

To Light & Love ...
Heartbreaking and Endearing Devi's Tale Of Woe & Triumph ...
Good riddance to her husband who banished her in such a cruel fashion, told her he no longer loved her and to Leave the home /children and the poor children eventually put into foster home...
(forgive me for raising eyebrows but 'Religion' and its 'Fanaticism' rearing its Ugly Head yet again on women suffering under its fate)
One can see how she embraced her new Life with Courage , Charm, and Wit
and understand her words "the mountains are my real home"
Her photography did not interest me as much as her Story and what a Story !
makes your heart Open and want to Embrace her...
Pleased to hear her work will have an exhibition and the new landscape may
become another means of making a living as a Guide and lover of Her new found land

though I should stand Corrected
not just 'Women' , Men too suffering the Fate of Religious fanaticism
my God better than your God , killing in the name of God, Pure and utter insanity
I find solace in my camera
and a very personal sense of spiritualism where no one needs to know

Hi,
At times like this I don't mind paying the licence fee. It cheered me up this morning, probably whilst our American friends were sound asleep...

Compared with religious fanaticism, having a Leica fanaticism suddenly appears so tame!
