Would be great to see images - helpful too for others considering their options.exactly - i was so surprised how 7artisans 25mm is good that i got 35/1.2 now also.. ill open one thread for 7artisans so people can share their photos-its a shame and unfair to that company that we dont have it..

I picked up a copy of the M 28 f1.4 and I'm quite impressed overall, both with build quality and feel. Everything designed to turn does so smoothly and flawlessly, and everything not designed to twiddle doesn't; solid. The bayonet fit is precise and clicks perfectly to my M240, exactly like a Leica lens. In fact if you removed the 7Artisans engraving and marked it up as Leica it would be difficult to distinguish by feel alone (apart from the non linear aperture control ring).I was a little surprised at him nominating 7 Artisans but he did seem to be basing his assessment on a single lens - the 25mm f1.5 for cropped sensor which like many older designs are poor in the corners and does look to be quite primitive in the sense that many 1950s lenses today have quite simple construction. That is not necessarily unfair of itself if it is otherwise well built and does not fall apart but he did seem to suggest he thought it was not well built. As I have said I cannot comment as I have not tried one.
I will say though that I am not wholly averse to simple old lenses that have performance limits if you know what you are getting. If cheap many can be fun. If they have some character that makes them usable though far from optically perfect then they at least have a function.
Optically it's more than adequate for my needs. OK it's not up to a Leica 28 f1.4 but at 1/15 the cost or less, what should I expect? Again relating to the copy I have, I'd say it back focuses slightly; at 0.7m it's about 1cm out. At the physical end stop at infinity the scale stops short, and if I pixel peep (200%) the image is a a tad soft, even at the centre. However I can't imagine using a 28mm in a situation where I would demand perfect infinity focus at f1.4. In other words it meets my needs.

“Vending Machine Lenses”! LOL!
Seems few have damning words about the optics (yet) or durability (yet). A few friendly thoughts...you won’t be able to re-sell them save for pocket change and if you drop it or something serious goes awry, unless you know how to pull them apart, I strongly doubt anyone will pay the cost of repair, which would be several times the cost of the lens itself.
And if you still like it, you will return to the e-vending machine to get a replacement.
