In the same configuration and the same price as the silver one, and thus not as a 'special edition' with the black case, filter ring, filter, and hood.

I have actually grown accustomed to the silver and now it looks better to me, though normally I always prefer black...

Hope they will make a metal version or x200, I dom't like these colors on plastic..
X100s disappointed me bit as I've owned x-pro1 and x100

The X100s is plastic? From Fuji:

"The upper control deck and bottom surface of the camera has been cast from magnesium alloy, (semi-solid metal casting), to create a high-precision body with high rigidity. All dials on the upper control deck are also fabricated from metal."

So body indicates only the top and bot plates right?
those back buttons are quite toy-ish too

I believe this is true...the rest of it is covered in pleather.

I can't argue against your point on the buttons. The center button on the directional wheel is tiny and hard to press...and I've lost the little piece of felt that was stuck on there to make things easier. Must remember to replace that...

What a slap in the face it is, too.

This is literally my ONLY complaint about Fuji. Why why why would they not make the black available on the initial order. Rightly or wrongly, there are many of us who for most of our life have strongly preferred black bodies and we probably represent the best quality customer base for Fuji. Yet again, they ignore the complaints of holding back the black body.

Last go round, I bit the sucker bait and sold the chrome body and bought a black one...no more and probably won't ever buy a chrome one from fuji no matter when they announce...In fact if the x200 is chrome, I'll be looking at some other camera (assuming I need an update to the x100s).

With all the things Fuji has done so right, this is one practice that sets me in orbit.

So unless someone offers me full retail for the original x100s (hey, its the original, the classic), I'll sadly not be carrying the black body

that was quite a dumb move by fuji, if they're the same, only different colour, made no sense to delay the launch...

Fuji...Why not remove some lettering, make the LCD more scratch resistant and call it an x100sP ;) You could then charge at least 2k!

i think the curves of the x100 look better in silver, too.

in black, the built-in flash is really conspicuous.

Pic from CES today.

If the middle body is plastic, does it at least feel rigid? Is it some kind of leatherette, or is the texturing part of the plastic molding?
Does the X-E2 feel more plasticky?

Thanks,

Gil.

It feels solid. It's a "leatherette" type covering over what looks like standard magnesium. Is it plastic? I changed the covering on mine to a dark navy. It sure looked like metal I was cleaning the original glue off of.
