The year that was - 2008

Hi Tom,

Great to see you here--I just joined RFF. I also recently returned to the True Path and bought an M8 with assorted Leica lenses.

Cheers,
Nathan

Nathan, welcome back into the fold. OK, semifold as you went M8. I am still stuck to film and intend to stay that way for the foreseable future. My idea of digital is that when I put a 35mm lens on the camera, that's the view the camera gives me!
Did I hear a rumor that you got the 24f3.8? I tried it on film in Louisville, at the LHSA. Much impressed by it.

TOM:

thank goodness I have finally found you. I've been so busy shooting digital for the past few years then I recently discovered this forum and made me want to dig out all my SML's and shoot a roll or two, but my divided D-76 is probably toast. I still have some mixed up from prob 5+ years ago. I missed you at the last camera swap meet on Commercial and was thinking of coming to a meeting or two this year.
Oh, BTW those pix of you taken at the Soap Box Derby are on my Youtube Video. I am still out and about taking pix around town but you are so allusive that I have yet to bump into you

Bob, you should come to the German Club (Deutsche Hause) on Victoria/33rd on the first Tuesday of the month. Same old gang gets together for schnitzel and old, dusty cameras.
Nice seeing you at the Soap Box Derby.
Tom

tom:

now you tell me. Now I'm too late for this month. I thought it was the 2nd Tuesday. How about the Zen on Saturday for Breakfast ? "cause I can't make the Friday meetings, since I am not yet retired - like you . . .

bob

Bob, when we cant go to the German Hause, we go to Aphrodites (the other three Tuesday's of the month!)on 4th Ave. (one block east of Alma). Usually Marc Kramer, Kevin (young but dedicated shooter), Ben Johnson, Rade etc. Anywhere from 3-4 or more. usually around 6-6.30. Just friendly chat and dinner. They make great pie's there too.

tom:

I was driving past that "old" coffee place recently (changed names) & I was wondering where you moved to. I have seen Marc a few times now, but out in Langley. He never mentioned where you met. And I did send you an email, but you must have thought it was SPAM and deleted it. I was in your lane last week, but your buzzer is unmarked and didn't want to push the wrong one. Now that I have "found" this site I'm getting more energized to use FILM again and dust off my collection of RF's, and use up all my outdated, expired film

Tom:

was nice to see you again . . . and YES, they do make good pies. I had the turkey pie and you had the cheesecake pie.

(M2 , III, R4m)

My black III sure looks small nestled between your two "M's"

bob

Bob, the M2's have the Rapidwinders on them and that does give them a bit of height! Kevin keeps his lenscap on his 40mm - dont know why?
Nice seeing you and keep your Tuesday's free in the future.

Tom:

I think he just wants to test out his REALLY SLOW SHUTTER speeds, either that or he is shooting IR

ps: If you happen to be around 1535 West 4th Avenue on Saturday, around 1:30 pm or later, you can have a Cappuccino (or Latte) -- my treat. Norwegian TOM wants to try out my ARSAT 30mm (Topcon lens with adapter) mounted on M645 .

Because i don't want dust or fingerprints to get on my lens as I paw it anxiously. It comes off when i'm 'En garde'

I just looked at my nokton 40 a few minutes ago and a 3mm long piece of dust has wedged itself between two elements. :(

Foggie:

is that you KEVIN ? we should have name badges with our alias, then we know who we are

You were probably using a dummy lens, covered with a lens cap

anyway TomA didn't respond but there's a Cappucino with your name on it at:

1535 West 4th Avenue, 1:30p or later on Saturday (2/13) if you are available.

Norweigan TOM is coming to test out my ARSAT 30mm Pentagon Lens, mounted on M645.

Thank you for the invitation. Tomorrow is actually 2/14 (Valentine's Day) and I have already made plans with my girlfriend.

I suppose I'll see you on Tuesday if you're available!
