my wife heard the gunshots, I didn't. (yes, I live in the bad part of town). I got up and went down to the police line w/M3.
I felt like a ghoul, kinda. Took some photos. Don't think they'll be any good. But I felt uncomfortable being there.

Sir,
I cannot imagine anyone feeling otherwise at a crime scene of that sort.

film is exciting
Murder scenes aren't fun to cover, but after you've been to a few of them -- you'll feel less ghoulish. I think the first few accidents, shootings, and fires I've gone to were of the same nature, you feel somewhat predatory when you're there. When it's a part of your job, however you somehow push past that and realize you've got to do it. Crime photo's ain't for the casual photographer.

I'm not sure accidents are for casual photographers. This morning I rode my bicycle to a store. At the end of my road, I could turn left or right depending on where I wanted to buy some groceries. I looked left and half a mile down the highway was a major accident. I had a camera in my backpack, but I would have felt ghoulish taking photos since I don't do it for a media. Despite being on a bicycle and I probably could get around the scene easier than people in cars, I chose not to be one more headache for the emergency crews and went the other direction.Crime photo's ain't for the casual photographer.

Nice neighborhood. 357 and Leica-M in the same discreet shoulder bag. Well-padded of course. Lots of extra film and a few extra clips for safety.

touché...However, there is a Glock of that caliber. (For your safety: such weapons not to be handled unless trained to handle lethal weapons)

looks like I'm old school 357 revolver was what I was thinking. However,in my neighborhood the last homocide involved a full clip of AK47 rounds 2blocks away, sprayed into a house killing a mother watching TV.No way I'm out on the street when they go off.It sounded like pistol rounds fired fast and was suprised when they said AK.
