Hi

I need a thin leather strap for a little rangefinder. I dont want anything fancy just something really plain and thin.

Everything i find is either platted or really thick at the shoulder part etc.

I just want a plain one!!!

Any ideas where i can find one??

Thanks

Leather repair shop or a store that sell Horse related Tack...I picked up a leather strap that was just the right width and length...it was either 4 or 5 feet long...I paid $4 for it...

I have two Gordy neck straps and I'm not actually a huge fan of the square chunkiness of them ... it gives them unecessary bulk IMO.

I can see where the OP is coming from ... a light thin strap is very easy to manage with a small light camera.

Look for craft shops that also sell leather and leather projects. They will usually have different types of straps. Near where I live is a place called Michael's. I think it is a national chain.

Fedka is a good dealer in USA specializing mostly in FSU cameras and accessories.
Here's a thin black leather neckstrap, made in Japan, for $10.75 at the fedka.com store:

+1 for the type of strap at Fedka. Originally intended as a binocular neck strap, I believe. Using the included split-rings, works great with a small camera such as a Barnack Leica. Flat and thin enough to wrap around your wrist for one-handed carrying.

Artisan's are nice and all, but damn pricey imo.

Horse tack stores or leather guys are really your cheapest (dare i say simplest) option. And its not bad quality, these guys just don't overprice and charge you for the leather (not the name or design).

I've been riding horses since i was four, so thats where i'm coming from. I had a leather briefcase made from a local leather guy, it was custom and much cheaper than the "name brand" equivalents, and built exactly how i wanted.
