things you'd like to see in the bessa r4

  • THREE STRAP LUGS. Is this really that difficult?
  • Longer baselength.
  • Multiple exposure button.
  • Slightly redesigned interior chamber so that more collapsible lenses fit.
  • And a screw mount 1,4/40 Nokton to go with it. That could be the first lens ever that I buy new.

Also, it would be nice if there were exposure LEDs both in the finder (like the R/R2) and at the top of the body (like the T). That way it would be possible to comfortably set exposure both with the internal and external viewfinders. And it would be next to no effort at all to implement this.

Of course this way the R4 would eat into T sales, so nobody will do it.

I've never tried the R3A, but I'm considering it. For me, the changes I would like (based on what I know, and what people here have written):

- 1:1 finder with 35mm framelines (or 28mm, whatever)
- AE lock in the shutter release
- Better support for collapsible lenses (just in case I actually buy a collapsible lens one day)

Honestly, it sounds like a pretty good camera as it is. I don't know how much improving it really needs... but like I said, I've never used one!

-- Longer baselength (a magnification mechanism like the Canon screwmounts might be a possibility)
-- More true center-weighted meter
-- Ability to meter without cocking the shutter (like the Bessa R; just have a shutter lock (as with the R3A)
-- Lower light sensitivity for the meter
-- Quick-loading ability (like the Canonet or FTb)
-- Larger rewind crank that won't slip out from your fingers (the Bessa T's is pretty good)
-- Better-wearing paint
