Thinking about the 50mm Sonnar - but those f/1.5 vs. f/2.8 threads make my head hurt!

One thing about which there is virtually total consensus is that the C-Sonnar can help a photographer make beautiful images...
 
Thank you all, this made it much clearer. Especially thanks to those of you that posted photos - that was exactly what I was hoping for!

For one, it seems the f/2.8 "version" is the one I would go for, if I were to buy it. But I'll pass for now. Like others have said, I hate to turn the joy of photography into some mental game where you have to compensate. In my case, "softness" is fine, but "mis-focus" is not.
