Thinking of adding a DP1M to my 2 and 3.

I haven't used my DP2M or DP3M for quite a while and dragged them out of the cupboard a couple of weeks ago and haven't really used anything else since. I'd forgotten how much I like their output and have basically fallen in love with the quirky little shapeless things all over again. They really are a phenomenal little camera and because the Quattros have never really grabbed me in the same way I have stuck with them.

But .... where the hell does one find a DP1M these days because I would now quite like to add that focal length to what the other two offer. I saw a couple on eBay that seemed very pricey to me and new stock seems to be long gone here in Oz which is a shame because before they cleared them out they were only asking $550.00 for them.

My alternative is to put a wanted to buy add here at RFF classifieds or maybe even swap something I'm no longer using that has equivalent value for a decent user?

I can see myself keeping these things until they die ... I really do like them. :)

I'll add that nothing I have ever seen in the way of sample images on the web from the Quattro has made me want to own one over my Merrills.

Keith, I understand your fondness for the Merrills. I have all three and don't think I will ever part with them.

I haven't seen many Merrills of any flavor advertised lately, but I will certainly send you a heads up if I see a DP1M up for grabs on this side of the pond.

Web images don't do full justice to the Merrill's output, maybe that is the case with Quattros too?

Camera Lane has a DP1 Quattro in stock, but it's not what you want.

I bought one of the last DP2 Merrills early this year, and I almost regret it. I just can't get images that fully please me like the earlier Sigma cameras.

If you give Camera Lane a buzz, they might know of where to source a secondhand DP1M. There was a secondhand DP2S in the window a couple of months ago.

it's nice to have the complete set, like you i haven't seen anything with the quattros that has motivated me to upgrade. now that you mention it maybe i need to pick up some merrill spares. i noticed the US *bay has a few used dp1ms listed for sale from japan for around 550ish, perhaps they would ship to aus.

I have the dp2m and would really like to try the 3. Never seen any Merrill come through our photo shop in the last two years.
I'm getting a little tired of shooting my newer cameras and I think I'll get my dp2m out again.
A couple of years back I saw some large prints from each of the Merrills an each was superb including the dp1m you're considering Keith.

I've read that the DP1M is the pick of the bunch for IQ and I think the 3M is marginally better than the 2M. They are all bloody brilliant though!
