i'm thinking of christmas...not so much the religious holy day but the gift giving holiday.
and gathering up all my greed i'm wondering what to gift myself with this year?
any others in a similar position?
what's on your own gift list?

My wife and I gave ourselves flights to Argentina over the holidays. Second summer of the year, yeah!
But then again, nothing special, we do that every year. The questions is, which of my cameras shall I take with me?!

Do we really, really have to think of christmas before dec.1?
I've no idea what's on my 'gift to myself' list as I've no idea how much money I'll have. Some of it will depend on if I can save up any money.
I'm useless at saving up money.
So I'll probably buy bog-all, photographically speaking.

Just started my list this morning while waiting to clock in at work.
BH has some great instant discounts on a lot of gear currently.
So far I've got:
Rode VideoMicro
Panasonic 25/1.7
The gf wants a new IPhone.

Good idea, but I'm not sure if I want to schlep around that monster in the heat of the summer!

Joe: How about a weekend trip to a cool location? Hiking in the mountains, a weekend in a spa, a museum & gallery weekend in NYC, a tiny little town tucked away in a beautiful valley, visit the birthplace of one of your idols, get tickets to one of your favorite bands? Something "immaterial", for a change, gift yourself some amazing memories!

The best camera is one that still works!
I have nothing I need photographically ... maybe something for my kitchen! lol

Balancing Cash and Gifts
I bought myself a FujiFilm X100F camera for my birthday, which was near the start of November. That took all of my extra money to be able also to treat myself to something for Christmas. However, since I bought that camera, I gave my Sony RX100 M3 camera to a store in Milan to sell for me. One non-rangefinder, compact camera is enough. Someone from the store wrote me a few days ago saying that they sold it for €525.
I thought of using that money to buy a Leica IIIF (black dial) camera and an LTM lens. I discussed this idea with Juan Valdenebro six years ago, but still haven't bought one. Maybe this will be the year that I will do it.
Alternatively, I was thinking of using the cash from the sale of the Sony to buy my girlfriend something nice for Christmas -- which is probably what I will do. After all, I like her better than Leica. The best solution would be for her to buy me the camera. Wouldn't that be neat. We'd both get something nice for Christmas.
Unfortunately, I usually don't get presents from anyone. When I have gotten a present, it's always something minor (e.g., one pair of cheap socks) and not what I wanted. The major exception is the Leica M3 a woman gave me a couple of years ago. That was so nice. I love that camera, although I don't use it very much.
Anyway, those are my Christmas thoughts at the moment. I probably won't get anything, but it's the thought that counts -- and I have good thoughts of what I'd like.

Best guess is that’s an $8000 VIC turntable plus and another three or four thousand for the custom tonearm and a few more bucks for the cartridge. Quite the record player! Wish all of your Christmas’ to be that bright.

I honestly do not know what I want for Christmas this year as pretty much have most things that I want, plus we are already going to Asia over the holidays.
Will always have lots of wants, but I'm trying to be happy with what I have now.
Only thing I consider a gift for myself this year is staying at the Park Hyatt Tokyo on our way back to Canada in January.
Other than that, I think my other gift to myself is to take lots of pictures on our vacation and enjoy bumming on the beach.

Week off is booked. And I hope I don't have to fix, install, add, remove and so on during this week. This will be the gift already and some snow to ski, this will be a miracle
.
It is not about getting the gift, or getting too holly, but jolly and at home or at least nearby
And Clark Griswold is the King!

I dont recognize the table or the arm, but my excuse is that the photo is blurry in crucial spots. I know a fair amount about tables, but what is a VIC? That's a new one on me.
Not surprised Woz likes analog. Jobs had a nice analog setup as well, which he seemed to prefer, at least early on, which is more than a little ironic.
