thinking of christmas?

Best guess is that’s an $8000 VIC turntable plus and another three or four thousand for the custom tonearm and a few more bucks for the cartridge. Quite the record player! Wish all of your Christmas’ to be that bright.

It's a VPI Classic 4 with a 12 inch 3D tonearm - priced at $10,000 plus.

i'm thinking of christmas...not so much the religious holy day but the gift giving holiday.
and gathering up all my greed i'm wondering what to gift myself with this year?
any others in a similar position?
what's on your own gift list?

I don't know, tomorrow is Thanksgiving, my birthday is on December 9th. Not even thinking about Christmas yet.

Although, I do need a new lens for my DSLR, and maybe I could use some film for my rangefinders...

This year, (at the age 52) I took up skate boarding again, currently l have three longboards and four cruiser boards, (tarmac feels harder than it did in the 1970's), anyway my wife has bought me another board for Christmas. I have just treat myself to a Lomo fisheye for a bit of fun and a clamp for my boards to attach gopro's to them at ground level

I'm with Kostya on this one. Snow! I would like to make it more about experiences than "things" this time. My dream: a 4-day ski escapade with my wife and my son and his girlfriend. We can ski during the day....then eat, drink, and be merry in the evening....and sleep like bears til morning....then do it all over again.

Clark Griswold is a role model in my family.

We usually buy the house something. Bed, sofa, sidewalk, all those romantic gifts. This year it might be new toilets. Happy holidays.......

Dear back alley,

I'd like a more thoughtful world for Christmas.

I'll take the coal I get and deal with it.

I wouldn't mind taking more vacation time and enjoying what I already have.

Not trying to sound pious, in fact I've acquired a lot of toys over the past year. Not particularly rare or expensive ones but toys all the same, and I feel like it's time to play!

You reminded me of rff xmas giveaway, it's about time to start digging for some stuff.

I'll be vigilant this year and be extra sure to post it at midnight.

I have a ton of stuff for the giveaway this year.

Might be worth staying up ;)

Surely my favorite thing about the holidays!

I would also love some snow up here!

That's really too bad; you have my sympathy!

In regard to self-gifting (sorry - it's a horrible word) for my up-coming birthday, I bought myself a "Professor" bag from Far Horizon Traders.
https://farhorizontraders.com/

It'll hold my gear + my daily needs; that is, when I set it up with inserts from the closet full of bags I don't use - and it's gorgeous!

My wife and her business partner have to do continuing educational classes for their CPA license so this year they decided to do these classes in Kuaui...
I wanted to take a smaller camera with me...so I was looking at camera gear.
I found the Sony a6000 to be a decent little camera with the adaptability to use my older lenses, sensor size was what I was wanting...
I sold a few high dollar items on ebay and pulled the trigger on the Sony...
I was able to get the body, 16-50mm lens, three Fotodiox adapters and four extra batteries...I will consider this my Christmas present from me to me...
Very happy with the results...

I guess everyday is Christmas for me. I was browsing the web yesterday and found a used Silver Graphite X-T1 for less than the standard black ones. I didn't plan on it but I couldn't pass up such a deal. So it's now on the way to me. As if I need another camera, another Fuji or another X-T1.

We usually don't buy gifts in our family. Gift cards if anything and those only for my wife's two adult sons (my stepsons). But this year I was thinking of getting my wife an iPad. I think she would enjoy it since she uses her old Kindle Fire a lot and it's not so great anymore. I know I enjoy using mine.

You have my sympathy concerning your dog, Joe. I went through similar circumstances a few years ago with my previous pooch. It broke my heart to have her put down but it would have been selfish and cruel of me to hold onto her in the condition she was in at the last.
