thinking of going back to a DSLR

hmmm.. a Hassy or Mamiya kit could certainly do what I want.. the question is, could I put together a system for under a grand?

yes, you can. i just picked a 500cm, 80mm f/28 cf & a12 back along with a few accessories all for $995 after shipping from keh. all of it in exc condition, too. a mamiya system will run you even less.

hitting on the point of having too many cameras - that's exactly where i was, so i decided to sell all my large and medium format gear in favor of one good system that will last me a lifetime. i did the same thing for my 35mm gear just before christmas in favor of an m7 and couldn't be happier. i haven't had to spend a penny since all of the stuff i sold ended up paying for the new stuff.

the truth is, all of us hobbyists would do just as well with one inexpensive camera system, but the nature of our psychology is to want the best and brightest toys. it's just a matter of how hard you want to fight that urge.

Brett, You can't go wrong with the G1. The kit lens is really good. You can get the camera w/kit, longer zoom and an M to micro 4/3 adapter for under $1000. I love putting my Leica and CV lenses on the G1. There are adapters available for Oly, Nikon, Canon and cine lenses, too.
Someone asked where to get the G1 adapter? Cameraquest handles some quality adapters.

Brett, Maybe you just have cabin fever from that horrible Wisconsin winter.:D Spring is just around the corner.
