Thinking of going from Nikon D4 to DF

The nice thing is you can select the position of the focus point (with both cameras) so it does not have to affect your composition.
I tend not to stare at the dot, but focus using the screen and happen to notice when the dot appears.

Slightly off topic.. manually focusing with a Nikon F6 is far superior to any DLSR that I have used, even though the F6 is also an AF camera. Nikon really spent the time on that one to make sure it works perfectly with both types of lenses.

Yes that's it ... you don't have to stare at the dot, just concentrate on composition and visual focus and you usually become aware the instant the dot lights up.

The manual focus rangefinder on modern Nikon cameras are a little distracting to me. They're like turning on subtitles for a film you already understand.

At my age my eyes need all the help they can get! :p

And I have to say ... many of the comments in this thread have caused me to pause and have a good think about the DF which is good. Financially it's no issue because I picked my D4 up second hand here in Oz for three grand well over a year ago and being what it is of course it's still perfect so I wouldn't expect to have a lot of trouble selling it for a figure that would cover the DF if I went that way.
