Hello, I have been working on a DIY case for two lenses, upright. The Elmarit fits without the thick plastic rear cap (non leica), but not with it. Are there any ones that are thinner, almost flush with the lens mount?

This one is, I think, a little less than 1 cm in height (I don't have one in front of me):

I think the part number is 14051. If I'm correct, KEH has one for $5.

There are others roughly the same height as this one. It fits most telephotos and standard lenses but is not usually deep enough for wide angles.

Yep, that cap comes with most Leitz lenses.

I really like this one: 320091338511

Just a bit thicker, but quite robust. Strong enough to take an M/LTM adapter off, for instance.

Roland.

Look for a rear lens cap for the 40-C summicron and 90-C Elmar from the Leica CL.

Thin and well made with "Leica" in relief.

If you can find them...but I am sure they would not be expensive.
Do an auction search.

Good luck

PS: As I follow the link, apparently this is the same cap as suggested by "Roland" above by DAG. Mine are well built, with "Leica" in relief and not incised as these shown. They are otherwise the same no doubt.

Thanks Roland, I'll give that one a try. The inside of the 14051 always seems to look like it's been glued together sloppily with model cement.
