I just bought another 50. A newish, colapsible Elmar. Now I have a tabbed Cron, early Lux and the Elmar. What am I supposed to do with all these 50's!!? (Okay, I'll stop bragging now). I blame you guys. Now when I go out my pockets are stuffed with so many lens I look like a sack of walnuts

Make sure you have a body for each one and get crazy... you should have a real collection of photos to choose from for the contest!!

Oh YEAH, that's the answer ! :D

Nick R , I'm in the same boat as you. I received my third 50 earlier this week.

RFF needs to establish something like a Credit Union Christmas Club for members so saving for these things is less painful. Or, develop an antidote for GAS...

Three? You have [/B]3 and you call that ridiculous? FrankS and Joe won't even READ this thread until you have at least 3 more.

I have a two-generation back Elmar, a 50 Summicron DR, a Jupiter-8, a Canon 50/1.8 LTM, an Industar-22 and a old Elmar 3.5.

And yes, I want a 50/1.5 Summarit or a 50/1.4 Summilux still....

No where near ridiculous.

That would be buying cameras with incompatible mounts just to get the 50's on them because you know that adapters exist. Then liking the cameras and sending them in for CLA's. And buying the adapters.

Nokton, baby, Nokton.

50's - hey I know what you mean!

I started with Nikkor 5.0cm/1.4 that came on my S2.

Then, after I got the Bessa R2S picked up another Nikkor 5.0cm/1.4 because why switch lenses?

Now the an S has come in, attached to - you guessed it another Nikkor 5.0cm/1.4!

BTW: Brian S. as resident Nikon guru - did Nikon ever actually made a rear lens cover for the 5.0cm? I figure that somewhere there is a dumpster full of Nikkor 5.0cm rear lens caps that were tossed aside when everyone bought the "kit"! ;)

I figure that 50's are like springtime flies - if you don't kill them quick - they're gonna breed 100 million relatives before next winter comes! :D

See what I'm talking about. You're all enablers!

Nokton? Brian, you're sick -but in a good way ;)

Seriously, no more 50's. Although the ASPH lux has a great color signiture which would compliment the B&W sig of my lux, and who couldn't use the extra stop of the Nokton, and I'm sure the Canon .95 would come in handy at some point, and some of those old screw mount lenses have unique looks . . . . It never ends

Nikon did make a rear cap for the 50/1.4. They are rare and fetch up $100 or so. You can also use the rear cap on the Kiev Jupiters on the Nikkors. I suspect most Nikkor 5cm lenses were sold with the camera. And in a repeat of that, Nikon does not include rear caps with the S3-2000 kit.

I have this cap that came in a package deal along with a Contax IIIa and a post-war Contax 35/2.8. The cap was inside a hard leather Nikon case. I have been using it as a rear cap on one of my many Contax 50s. I forgot to add in the first mesage that the cap is made of thin sheet metal covered with a fine black enamel finish.

Nick:

If you don't think that you could live without the Nokton I'll be happy to sell you mine. I purchased it from fello RFF'r Fredus about four weeks ago. I'd sell it for what I paid $ 270.00 US. I have too much as it is and I don't need to have more than one.. unlike some of you here..... 35's are my vice

Let me know

Scott

Stop the madness

Stop the madness

I have a 50f1.4 for each of my 3 Nikon s cameras, two 50f1.5 sonnar optons, a Nikon 50f2 and 50f2 summicron in M mount. And my favorite are the optons which I really don't have a camera to shoot them with.

Thanks, Scott. But it's my 27th wedding anniversary next month, and if I want a 28th, I'd better cool it.

Oh, so, instead, you're carrying around a sack of hazelnuts?

At present I only have 4 50's - Canon 50/1.8, Jupiter 3, Jupiter 8 & Industar 22. But if/when I get the coins, I'd like to add a couple of more. Say 50/3.5 Elmar (uncoated), 50/2 Summar, 50/.95, Canon 50/2.8, another Industar 61L/D, & maybe a Summicron of some form or another... just for starters...

50's are like really expensive popcorn :D

OT question, Brian... Did you use the Nokton (I guessing you're referring to the one that come with the Prominent) on a Contax or Leica? If you use it on the Leica with adapter, did you collimate the lens by adjusting the adapter or the lens?
