One bag and the Pelican cases are black (by choice). Domke bags are blue and tan because that is what they had on hand -- I'm not too picky

Mine are mostly tan. Frances's are mostly tan or black.
No, it doesn't make a difference to me. Or Frances.

Too late, I went over years ago!
what colour(s) is/are your camera bags
Green, blue and black ... but not all at the same time
and does it make a difference to you?
Only when I'm trying to find the one I'm looking for

I like Billingham bags. Black and tan but I also have a small dark green one. Yes, it matters. I prefer a bag which attracts minimum attention and preferably doesn't look too obviously like a camera bag.

Domke -Started as Dark Brown with light brown trim, now all lighter.
Tenba P311 - Grey
Tenba Messenger Bag from years back - Black
Leica Hard Case - Black
Belt Bag for GRD or Bessa L with 25/4 attached - Red
Yes color does matter but in a different way. Like I was thinking of a new Timbuk2 small messanger to replace the old Tenba (till I found a way to fix it) and it was going to have one 1/3 yellow and the other two black with a yellow logo.
Now it should be mentioned that I wear Orange Crocs everywhere (even to work these days), so color is somewhat of a statement.

Oh, yeah, now you mention it, my favourite small Billingham is dark olive green too. Which shows how little it matters to me!
I completely agree about unobtrusiveness which is why size matters. A small bag, no bigger than a large 'manbag' (much more common in Europe than the USA in my experience) doesn't even necessarily read as a camera bag. My smallest Billingham will (just) hold 2 bodies and 2 lenses, or 1 body and 2 lenses easily. Having NIKON or CAMERA CARE SYSTEMS written on the bag always struck me as a really poor idea.

My camera backpack is forest green. My Tenba full size SLR bag is black. My no name bag for the Leica cameras is grey with stitchings and tape on it to cover up torn portions of the cheap bag. Nobody would suspect good Leica equipment in such a camera.
Colors ...? Light is better than dark for hot climates.

Have you ever been to the Billingham factory and seen their pattern/sample bags for the nachinists? Standard Billinghams in fire-engine red. I've been trying to persuade Martin to make me one for years...

Bags, Boxes, and Cases
A couple of aluminum Zero Halliburton cases circa late 60's in aluminum color, Leica canvas bag (the original of the "Classic") from the mid 70's and a boxier canvas Nikon bag. They WERE both tan canvas but now are pleasantly filthy, an assortment of belt pouches in various greys and blue. I also have an ancient greyish tan leather bag and a tan leather covered fitted case that I made myself about 1968 that now looks like crap. They all now look like crap! I don't look much better.:bang:
Then there's another tan cloth tripod case for my Gitzo Studex, and a case that I painted white years (decades?) ago for a couple of Monolights and aluminum light stands. I'd never use a dark case in the Florida sun. Baked lenses and roasted film? Not my style. It's worry enough that so many lenses are black.
