This is *%#& ridiculous ... another lemon!

Looks like your emulsion got scratched... :ducks:

I agree though, it's not excusable and reminds me of the M8 headaches a bit with hot pixels and banding.

Sorry to hear about the difficulty with it. Surely the issue will get solved.

At least you didn't pay for it Keith... ;) Keep on keeping on... it's worth it once you get a good one.

Well- most early production cameras have their fair share of problems. I would wait a year to see if Fuji gets the bugs out before buying one of these. I suspect firmware updates for existing cameras will correct some problems, and Rev level of the CMOS sensor will get rid of others.

Dang Keith, my humble and sincere condolences! Something is wonky for sure! :( Mine's (just to rub it in and give the Aussie - Norwegian relations a kick in the...) not like that. I can't even find anything in my 3200-shots.

You need to switch off the "processed in a 1 hour lab" effect.

Yeah ... it is a bit like that!

I have a roll of C41 that looks just like that processed by the local Kodak One Hour a few years ago that "wasn't their fault ... obviously my camera!"

:D

Hmmmm?????

Hmmmm?????

Is anyone else shooting the X100 in the Southern Hemisphere?
chime in..... something about pixels moving counter clock wise?

Hope they send you a good one soon. Me, I'd be livid, but it wouldn't be good for my poor tired old heart:mad:

that sux ..:bang:... did a grain of sand get stuck in your film plane ..... This is the first really sucky thing i've read about the x100.

But i am relieved that the banding is due to YOUR new X100 rather than MY overly expensive Mac screen . at least you can return the damn thing!

The camera is going back to DCW today who were very sympathetic when I emailed them samples this morning and will get me another one asap! Maybe they come in disposable packs?

In spite of all the grief the Fuji is causing me I have to say the damned thing is worth the trouble and I wouldn't want anyone to be discouraged from getting one based on my bad luck. The images I've taken with it so far (problems aside) have blown me away ... the performance of this camera is astonishing IMO and I love shooting with it!

Next! :p

I've had a few weird settings experiences. Like the flash being on when I didn't turn it on - easily could have bumped the flash control. But what about suddenly finding I was in burst mode? Or turning on the camera and it doesn't turn on. Off and on again always works. Still no problems with images fortunately. ISO 1600 is so good that I have even stooped to automatic ISO with that as the max.

As a bit of an update ... when I got to DCW the other morning we had a bit of fun.

All the staff, who I'm now on a first name basis with of course, were very impressed with just how bad the banding was on the images I emailed. They are totally gobsmacked that anyone could actually be so unlucky! :D

Hopefully I won't have to wait too long for another camera ... the sample images were forwarded to Fuji while I was there and the salesman sending them was having a bit of a giggle at what the reaction may be at Fuji HQ when they see them. :p

They actually had a camera in stock that they were waiting for the customer (pre-ordered) to pick up ... it's been sitting there for two weeks apparently!

Keith, just wondering.... was there fluorescent light in the rooms you made the photos?
My Nex does that only when there's flourescent light around. Strange but it happens. My X100 does not but who knows....

No fluorescents there ... or here at my place and it did it at both locations.

I'm just one of those lucky sods that was born to be a beta tester! :p

Don't feel bad... I was one of the very lucky guys with 2 M8's on release......
This is a piece of cake ......

Happily DCW have informed me via email that another camera is on the way and will be here by the end of the week.

Fuji were onto it instantly when they saw the files apparently!

I hope the expression 'third time lucky' is a reality! :D

Keith let us know what happens. My x100 bands as well at 1600 (with a lower exposure) and at 3200 and 6400 its unusable.

I sent it to FUJI USA and they did some 'correction software' on it. It helped somewhat but banding is still prevalent especially in dark areas of the image.

Not with mine... I use it at 3200 all the time and even at 6400 at times. All usable with no bands.
