I bought a 39 mm screw in lens shade for my 60 lens. I cannot shoot with it. I get an error message. Please shut off and restart. I take the lens shade off and everything is good again!

That is weird. But the 60mm lens comes with a bayonet lens shade (a BIG one) already, so why do you want to use a screw in?

Have you seen the shade on the 60. I wanted one that didn't look like a dslr lens.
Why does the bayonet work and the screw in doesn't?

My guess: it's restricting forward movement of the lens cell, perhaps because it's narrower than the bayonet mount version. Much like, say, the error you get with certain filters on the Hexar AF.

Aha , You are right. Never thought of that. Thanks. Oh well, only cost me 7 Bucks.

Oh yes, I've seen it. I have one. It's a very effective shade. Big. But effective.
