Well, I live in a small market town and it has a few thrift/flea shops, well as I was passing today in the window was a Pentax K1000 with lens for £15, I was in quick as a flash...................cut a long story short and £15 later its mine. On getting home a qucik check over, clean as a whistle inside, shutter fine, light meter fine, seals fine, all good, then the lens, I took of the lens cap expecting the usual SMC 50mm M series F2, but instead it had a really clean Pentax SMC M series 28 2.8 lens. ALso included was a flash pentax lens cap and strap. A good deal I think, very happy as I type

Wonderful! The K1000 has become a classic, and for good reason. To have scored a nice looking and functional camera is nice. The 28 f/2.8 with it is nice icing on the cake.

Look forward to seeing some photos from it.

My life with cameras started in the late 1970's with Pentax and I must admit to having a soft spot for them, so I'm very chuffed and your right the 28mm is the icing on the cake, I'm a happy chap

Thanks Paul, but this usually never ver happens to me, anyway, I've always liked the K1000 and fell sorry for it in a way as it is always labled as a 'student' camera, not as glamorous as an MX, KM or KX...................In plann to keep it in one of my fishing bags to take on cold weather trips

That's a great deal, particularly as most of the charity / thrift etc. shops these days seem to either have 'valuers' for goods such as these or they look on Ebay and price accordingly.

Have fun with it.

John

The Pentax K1000 was my first ever camera as a 16 year old (late 70's) and has been the only non-Nikon SLR that I have ever owned. Like others, I must admit having a soft spot for the K1000.

A quick look at the going rate suggests you`ve saved yourself eighty quid 🙂.
I always look in the charity shops but so far have not seen anything .
