Keith I hear your pain. I've also pre-ordered with DCW and I think its not unreasonable after all this time for us to have some sort of firm delivery time. Either DCW (or similar retailer) in conjunction with Fuji need to sort it out. How hard can it be for Fuji to give a confirmed ETA? Its ridiculous and unreasonable for us to just sit and wait for months without any communication.
I wouldn't mind the wait, if I had an ETA.
But at the moment, my new TV is looking good - I can go and buy it now. X100? Who knows when it will come in?

Yeah, not really their fault but....

I considered the x100, and if one would have been avalible I would likely have gotten one. I ended up going for a refurb. D7000 and saved some money...

But cancelling your order will eat away at your psyche: the gnawing knowledge that you are not as cool as the X100 owners, the niggling feeling that you are missing out on something special, the growing sense of inferiority at not being part of the elite.
P.S. Just kidding - enjoy your D7000.

What QUIRKS !? This camera was NOT supposed to have any quirks !!
True about the re-thinking Keith. I did rethink it already al least 3 times and managed to "discover" Leica X1 and Ricoh GXR during that process
Still - I am curios about it and hope to see one live in a few weeks. The quoted price in the german Fuji website is 999 euro, so I guess it will be a bit less in the retail what would make is about 500 - 600 Euro cheaper than Leica X1 and very comparable to Ricoh GXR with one A12 lens module.

Show me a camera without any quirks. Of course one man's quirk's is another man's norm.

Would a quirk be what we use to call a trade-off? For example, my M3 has quirks. It doesn't have a meter. It doesn't like wide or very long lenses. It has a weird film loading and rewind system. It has an antiquated shutter and a strange focusing/viewfinder mechanism. Lots of quirks, but I still like to shoot it. I had to learn about the quirks and learn how to take advantage of some and minimize the effect of other quirks. If you want a camera that doesn't require any thinking, or a series of actions to get a certain result, then hire a photographer and just relax.

"The longer the delays are in getting the cameras out there to potential buyers patiently waiting ... the more chance there is of some of these people re-thinking their choice after they read these types of reports."
The irony is that I started selling off gear in order to clear the shelves a bit and justify the purchase of a new camera - the X100 but as it transpires, I had a bit more gear than I thought. I have now generated enough cash for an M9. Which is nice...

Now THAT's what you call a pleasant surprise! Enjoy the M9. It has its quirks too, of course.
