I've loaded up my 25mm, got the m8 ready, and am shooting two hockey games this weekend - also carrying my nikon d3 with lenses and my leica d-lux 4 -- lots of batteries to charge -- will post photos --- will carry my summar in my bag for just in case shots ---
have it shooting dng+jpg,bw (may change that for the hockey to just the high res jpgs to speed things up) have two hockey games and roller derby next weekend --- lots of lugging gear around
the m8 has proven to be an utter delight

M8, despite some of whats been said over the years, is a great little camera.
Good luck

Why?
The hardest part is learning to follow the action without getting caught up in all the hoopla. Otherwise you forget what you are trying to do.
Photographing hockey and roller derby is not the same as watching hockey and roller derby.
