Those Brooklyn Camera Dealers - Some News

Speaking of Arnie Duren, I just saw him 2 weeks at the annual Largo Camera Show here in West Fla.. The one run by Nancy Green. Yes he is still going strong, that Arnie.
More than I can say for the Annual Camera Show. A shadow of former years. There were barely a dozen tables there this year and the place was cleaned out by 2 PM on the first day.

Arnie tried to wrestle a '57 Canon L-1 out of my hands and offered me peanuts for it. I ended selling it to another dealer for $ 100 more than Arnie offered me.

The only real camera store left in Brooklyn is Focus Electronics. The last full service camera store, Raleigh Camera, closed last year, after over 50 years in business. Brooklyn Camera used to be in Brooklyn, a few blocks from Raleigh.

Hmmm ... I vaguely remember a smaller place, east side of Flatbush, maybe Parkside or Caton, and another one down on the way to Kings Plaza.

Now, if you bought a camera in midtown Manhattan at one of the "Going out of Business" stores - SHAME ON YOU! 😉

Oh, you mean the Lost Our Lease place that was going out of business for 10 years straight. 🙂

That's almost as bad as a pre-fire sale! 🙂

I'd stick with B&H and Adorama, Sadly I've had a few bad experiences with photo village and would never go back or recomend others go there anymore.

B&H is great, but I hate Adorama. They are pretty sleezy and the one time I tried to order with them they pulled that "call us to verify your order so you can speak to us and hear our super shady NY accents and try to sell you crap you don't need" deal on me. I guy was extremely rude on the telphone, and was very impatient. I wound up cancelling my order, and I'll NEVER order anything from that store again. I did place one order from Photo Village and had a great experience.
