Those of you who scan film using a digital camera. What color temperature and lumix is your light source?

I plan to get a light table for the purpose of scanning. On one hand, I am attempted by those LED comic tracing boards, because they are cheap, on the other hand I am concern about the cold color temperature.

Am I worrying too much? Or should I just post adjust the white balance?

I use my laptop monitor, and do the white balance in post.

I use this dude. It gives a nice even light, but I can't comment on color, as I've only scanned B&W so far. Surely, though, color correction and WB adjustment will be necessary regardless of the light temperature?

When "scanning" color originals, the color temperature is only a minor consideration. What is important is the light source's CRI (Color Rendering Index).

I do that there are some fancy drafting boards with RA100, RA95 etc... rating.

Would you mind elaborating further on their influence in scanning?

Yes.

The index would be relevant for color and could it could impossible to rectify during post-production since information could be missing.

What would be a recommended light table with Ra95 and bright enough?
It appears that the brighter the broad is, the harder it is to get a high Ra index.

I use a color balanced flat-panel light box as light source for slide and negative copying. Bought it from B&H an eon ago ... I don't think the same one is available anymore.

Also is adjustable brightness important?
say for recovering highlight in slides, and shadow in negatives?
