AA was a great photographer, and by all accounts of those who met him, a nice guy, but he really wasn't a very good writer. His Gospels (The Camera, The Negative, etc.) are far longer than they need to be and all but unreadable.

Totally. If Adams' et. al. had autoexposure, they wouldn't have needed it. I like P mode myself!
