Thoughts on the Epson Stylus Photo R3000

Those two black inks should give you very nice tones on B&W.

I got my R3000 last year and love it. I have an ancient Epson R280, but the R3000 is seriously different. So far I've mostly used Moab Entrada paper in mine, and love the results for B&W photography. I've also had great results with Epson Glossy Paper for B&W.

A few comments. I'm on a Mac, so on the PC side things might be different but I've found that I can't print to fine art paper from Adobe Lightroom 3.x (I can from Photoshop CS5). I've also found that I get far more accurate results printing from Capture One Pro. Make sure you have profiles installed for each type of paper you use. It is worth investing in a sample pack from any of the vendors whose paper you might be interested in.

I recently purchased some Epson 13x19 Premium Glossy Photo Paper, and need to get my act together and make some colour prints. In fact I just realized that realistically I need at least one or two done today....

Just got my R3000 today. Within 90 minutes of hauling the box in the back door, I had it unpacked, installed, ink cartrdges installed, and primed. Ran off seven nearly perfect prints, including a couple of B&W. Also did a quick 4x6 directly from my iPad. Did a lot of research before settling on the R3000 and it seems to have paid off.

Once the Epson cartridges start running low, I plan to get the refill kit from Ink Supply for $195.

How do you print from iPad to R3000?

How do you print from iPad to R3000?

I downloaded a (as I recall free) app called Epson iPrint. Assuming that you have your R3000 set up to use your wireless network, you should be able to print directly from an iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch. YOu should also be able to print directly from the "built in" Photos app.

I sometimes use this to run off some 4x6 prints of iPhone snaps.

Many thanks for your response.
