Joe, check out the MTF curves for the two lenses at the Fuji website. The 55-200 looks quite a bit better. BUT… it doesn't have the weather resistance feature. Ah… trade-offs. 🙂
I find it close to the 18-55mm not quite on par but close. At full wide it is not as sharp as the 18-55 but already at 20mm I find it hard to tell the difference even when I really pixel peep. It is the best long range zoom that I have ever seen - and I have tried a lot! I has not left my X-E2 since I got it.
Go for the 90mm.
The 18-135 is too boring for street work.
Personally I would like more dof control tham the 18-135 can offer (recognizing that's my issue).
Also in a comparison I viewed between 18-55, 16-55, and 18-135..... The wide range zoom lagged in perfirmance until stopped down a bit.
It's already to the slow side.
As has been mentioned, maybe it's the perfect tourist lens for bright daylight travel.
I've used this lens for a little while, and I'm still a bit bothered by its size, i.e., it's bothered people when I've used it for portraits. I've tried using it to grab street shots from a distance, but like f16sunshine, the DOF's bugged me.
I think I'll go back to my 18 to 55 mm for portraits, and my 18 mm prime for the street.
