Gorgeous images, ray.

.

But then, many people who look at the gallery focus on the equipment used, film, developer, etc. That brings us around full-circle to: "so how different is the gallery from this thread?"

It's all about photography.

Geez, I am starting to sound like Gabriel. 😉

ray, maybe i didn't notice before but i think your shooting has improved by leaps and bounds.
your stuff is now consistently excellent.
i believe you have joined a select group of rff shooters, one i only hope to glimpse myself someday.

I prefer w/nw as I like browsing at photos according to a theme, and seeing how different people interpret the theme.

I think the w/nw threads have a lot of potential. If the w/nw threads had the following conditions:

~You can only post one image
~everyone who posts an image must comment on an image already in the thread
~if possible that image must be one that hasn't been already been commented on
~and everyone commenting must offer two types of comments one positive and one of a constructive nature (which is really two positives)

then the w/nw threads would be more than a thematic image dump, and would be constructive tool--approximating an online critique.

🙂

I am a sucker for people coming in the light from a dark area (I have a too many pics like that!). I appreciate my incident meter in those cases!!

Another one for the road...

Rool, darn that's sharp and with some nice colours. What film/lens combination did you use here? (NOT trying to turn it into a gear-thread..just curious..)

Lots of great photos here, but I just love these two. The light angling down on the gondolas is so classic, like an old painting.
The little boy with just a little light on his face is great, and the composition, leaving in the whole window, makes it final.
Wish I had done some of these shote! 😎

Just want to warn you guys that light GAS is much worse than camera/lens GAS!

I've long since gotten over the "my pictures would be better if I only had one more lens..." phase, but am still mired in the "my pictures would be better if I only had one more flash head/power pack/reflector/light modifier" phase!

Yikes! I went through that in the 1990's. Then I ended up using one pack and one head for almost everything.

Ray G...awesome pictures. the venice picture is unbelievable!
seriously good pictures in this thread! I enjoy your tree picture very much tetrisattack, holga or something?

nice thread, light matters infinately more than equipment!

2 from me: the first one is the stairs at my old apartment, the second is my girlfriend 4 days ago (after we moved into our new home)

Holga! No, it was actually a slide I shot with an R2A, projected onto a sheet of rice paper that I coated in liquid light, which was then contact printed on a normal piece of photo paper. 🙂

@Rich: No problem, the first shot in the bus is: Bessa L + CV25mm, the other ones are with my main camera: a Bessa R + CV35, f/2.5
You can't go wrong with this combo, it has the same functions as an M6! I love it.

For the film, it is very certainly Superia 400. Great great stuff for the price, in my opinion.
Lately I've been shooting 400UC though as I had some extra money...

Another one since we don't want to just talk about gear ;-)...
