Found this Nikon F2 at a local thrift store today. The meter even works after putting in 2 new 357 silver oxide batteries. It checks fine against several accurate meters..

Probably the same reason the owner donated it...
Beautiful...nice find...😎

I get that "film is no longer available" a lot..

The funny thing is though, you can get film cameras cheap at yard sales but Craigslist sellers want a mint for theirs.

What I get is more of a question: "Film is available?" And incredulous looks...

BTW, congratulations, Colyn! That's quite a find! 🙂

Thanks..

I'm going to go out this weekend and do some shooting with my (Ai version) 43mm~86mm. Haven't used this lens in several years..

Great find, especially it that condition! Excellent photography tool. Equipped with a strong leather strap, makes a great weapon if caught in a Zombie Apocalypse, as well.

Re: 43-86 a.i...I always liked this lens, even though it wasn't highly reviewed back in the day. Herbert Keppler of Popular and Modern Photography fame, was an exception. He used it extensively mounted on a Nikkormat for travel photography.

Ten years ago my friends and cow-orkers looked upon me as somewhat of a luddite in that I shot film and regularly showed off the prints.

Last spring they looked at me like I was some kind of a time traveler from a previous century when I showed some prints of the Riviera casino and explained that I was trying out a "new" film (Cinestill). Yes, I got a chorus of "you mean film is still around?" and such.

When I tried explaining that Cinestill was respooled motion picture film they also expressed amazement that the motion picture industry still uses film. 🙂 🙂

I really can't stand the ignorance of people that REALLY think film is no longer available. It used to be cute and always brought up conversation, but lately it just annoys the crap out of me.
