The guy who designed and now sells the E-Clypse did a lot of user market research, testing and iterative design before the product was finally designed for production. He changed a lot of parameters and built many models before finally manufacturing. You can look this up on the German LUF if you desire, it is all documented there. All of this costs money on top of the tooling costs becuse it was done right, unlike some of the suggested methods above. As a result you have a product that is clearly of high quality and that is very usable in contrast to virtually all the competition. (I have no connection with the producer of the product.)

I'm not affiliated with Tim either, I just bought two of his products, I like them very much, and I think they're worth what I paid for them, especially considering how well they work for me. He also wants ideas to improve his products (from actual users) so he's not throwing something quickly together.

I already tried faucet washers, super glue, DAG covers, Leicagoodies stuff, Cameraquest patches, etc. I'm very happy with Tim's product. In fact, if I do pick up another M body, I will order another eyecup, right away!

Sorry Nokton, you're clearly wrong to think that the eye cup you purchased is better than similar products and work-arounds. The guys who have tried none of the above say so.

Do you have to remove the existing screw-in occular to mount the E-clypse or does it snap over the top? Is it possible to thread a diopter or magnifier into the eyecup? I want to be able to finally see the edges of the 35mm framelines on my M2 without scanning. Looks like I'll have to get a diopter or a x0,85 magnifier. An eye-cup might also allow me to get close while wearing glasses.

It screws into the inner threads on any M-camera eyepiece. You do not remove the M eyepiece itself, which does have a lens in it. I found out when I removed it! BTW Tim also offers two other versions of the E-clypse, with built-in diopter correction. I have the standard E-clypse(s) and the eye relief is excellent (full corner to corner viewing, no problems), especially with my eyeglasses. I love what it does with my M2 and M5 😀😀😀

The EyeCups are great, fantastic build and packaging! However, while they would work perfectly if I wasn't wearing glasses, they don't work for me as I thought they would, so I put them both up for sale on the classified (misc section). One is new in box unopened, the other one has been mounted on my M2 twice; check them out if you are interested. 😀
