I want to thank Tim again for his creativity and dilligence in the creation of his Thumbs Up accessory. I received my Model 3 (from China) within a week of ordering, and my first impressions are very positive!

As Tim has suggested, using the Thumbs Up makes picking up and holding the M8 much more comfortable and secure. As to the question of which model to use, I can only say that I have a relatively small hand, and the (longer) Model 3 feels fine. Those with larger hands will likely prefer the Model 1.

That looks great, and what an excellent idea! I wish I had an M8 just to buy this. Great name for this item also.
 
It looks like a nicely-made doodad. I'm just concerned (can't help it, occupational hazard) about when the thingamajig catches on something coming out of the bag or clothing or something else, that puts pressure up and/or away from the body. Looks like there might be enough leverage to pry up the shoe and/or top plate. Hope not.

Similar concerns were expressed by others when Tim was designing the Thumbs Up. My early impression is that there is very little chance of it happening. And unless strong, direct, upward pressure is applied, the shoe is in no danger whatsoever.

Sorry I missed something. I did not realise that production started.
Where can I find more information and may be order one of those Thumbs Up?

That's good. I was thinking the most likely scenario is the end gets snagged on a bag strap while being quickly pulled out of the bag, or perhaps someone's trouser belt while quickly bringing the camera up to view. Given the length of the lever and how quick the maneuver, there would be some significant force. But as long as the designer has a background in metallurgy and the physics of levers and states he had the specs of the shoe and its attachment to whatever is underneath, and that he made a calculation of the amount of force it would take to cause damage and ascertained it is unlikely, then there's nothing to worry about.

Erik Haugsby, The Thumbs Up is designed specifically to work on the M8 and the M6. It can also be used on the M4. The winding levers can be easily used on these older M models with the Thumbs Up.

Ok, so I'm stupid and can't find any contact info. Anyone want to tell me where to get one of these things. It looks really interesting. Input would also be welcome as I understand that there are different models/sizes to choose from. I have an M6, large hands and one of Luigi's delightful half cases. Thanks all,,,,,,,,,,
