Thursday's Street Thread is just a bunch of us showing some of their street photography and talking about it.

This thread is not about whether you like street photography as a genre, or whether it even exists as a genre. It is all about photographic images and their merits or faults within the genre. Constructive criticism is the key word. Please, comment on the images, and post your street photos for the constructive comments of others.

There's no membership requirement, no criteria, no voting, and no limit to the number of photos posted. The only 'rule' is that Thursday's Street Thread is about commenting on other people's pictures at least as much as it is about showing your own.

If you can, post images as thumbnails or attachments rather than as full-scale images, to keep the thread readable and fast-loading and to keep the server load low.

Anybody can start the thread on a Thursday morning.

Anybody can join in.

I've been out of the loop for a few weeks - away from the camera and rangefinder.com - but i managed to shoot off a few rolls this past weekend and I feel much better because of it.

Here's two completely different shots from my weekend - please criticize:

Busan, South Korea - May 2008
beachlife

Busan, South Korea - May 2008
streetlife - protestors marching at anti-US beef and FTA protest

I have two pictures of photographers. Looking through and looking on;-)

model337 I like the vivid colors in the first one, and the bright faces on the foreground in contrast to the background at the second photo.

Petronius always fun to shoot other shooters:

And another one I like:

Bas.K, again very nice results!

Petronius, your first one looks pretty 80's :D but I also like that.

model337, I like the second shot better than the first.

Guys, I'm out for this week, since I'll go and buy myself a scanner on saturday. Hopefully the Epson V500 will give great results! Any comments on that one? A coolscan is too expensive for me *sigh*

petronius: your comment about the hands is a good one. thank you. it helps me to understand and see more in that photo, when before i was mostly feeling it on an emotional level.

i really like your first image. there's obviously the mirroring figures of the photographers, but the dejected looking man walking between them is quite interesting. the photo almost seems to be suggesting that HE is the photo subject most of interest but the 2 photographers are missing him completely as they are caught up by something above.

Bas.K: your first photo is a little far away for my taste. i think the figures loose their impact by being so small in the frame. i enjoy the second image much more; the composition of the shapes here is very good. again though, i think it would have more impact if you had a subject that was closer to your lens.

1alfred: it's hard for me to get into this one. the grainy (overexposed?) motion doesn't ruin it but i'm asking myself: how does it enhance the subject matter? i'm not sure that it does.

xtian: night photography presents a serious challenge to get a naturally lit photo that works, Especially if there is motion. i'm surprised you were able to get this so clear. that said, i can't say that it really holds my interest on any level. the subject doesn't hold anything interesting or insightful, and the composition is not planned or executed very well.

I`ve been shooting digital for years now, pin sharp glossy colorfull photographs. It`s getting boring. This year I want to concentrate on analog cameras, shooting film, and just see what happens. The joy of doing these things from scratch is what drives me - and this photograph that`s almost rouined hit me. I like the grain, the motion, the visible sprocketholes, everyting that`s "not right". It`s for REAL.
It`s not my best photograph, but it moved me in a new direction. We can`t all follow the same path!
You give wery constructive feedback, model337 - thank you for being so honest!
