'Thursday's Street Thread' is just a bunch of us showing some of their street photography and talking about it.
This thread is not about whether you like street photography as a genre, or whether it even exists as a genre. It is all about photographic images and their merits or faults within the genre. Constructive criticism is the key word. Please, comment on the images, and post your street photos for the constructive comments of others.
There's no membership requirement, no criteria, no voting, and no limit to the number of photos posted. The only 'rule' is that Thursday's Street Thread is about commenting on other people's pictures at least as much as it is about showing your own.
If you can, post images as thumbnails or attachments rather than as full-scale images, to keep the thread readable and fast-loading and to keep the server load low.
Anybody can start the thread on a Thursday morning.
Anybody can join in.

long boardin', pretty cool scene. looks like a crop based on the grain structure but pretty cool nevertheless.

Actually, it's full frame. Kodak Tmax 3200 and grossly over-exposed it by accident but I liked the effect so I saved the exposure in Photoshop. Looks better in print.

nightfly,
thats some serious grain.
model337,
the guy looking back makes it for me, great shot.
Rick,
the kid at the edge of the frame looks like he is pushing it out, his location in the composition and the guys looking his way are great.

Interesting light on her face, Todd. I think she knows what you want
Rick - Peaceful people not warring about the bus timing
model337 - I already voted for this marvelous figure in the middle.
nightfly - Is the grain intentional? I like it so

lZr,
thanks for the comments.
The middle one above is great, the tri-x and diafine are pretty dang sharp.

Bertram -- I love the first one.
nightfly -- The grain seems to me to add to the sense of movement of the subject. Nice!
model337 -- Nice capture, w/ the guy looking back at the girl w/ the megaphone.

nightfly : i have mixed feeling about 3200 film. it probably looks better in print but i still think the grain is usually too distracting for a daytime scene.
Todd.Hanz : first photo: what is your intention with this photo? what makes this unique or special enough to look at it twice? i'm not seeing it. maybe if the arrangement of the elements was composed differently... second photo: oh yeah, i'm really feeling this one. nice angle, framing, emotion, etc.
Rick Waldroup : the scene is very flat. that might not be a problem if something more dynamic was happening but i wish there was a better sense of three dimensional space. it also looks like it was taken from far away - was it?
lZr : of the last 2 images i would ask: what makes them "street" photos? i usually conceptualize street photos as images of man and his interaction with his environment and other people.
i like the first image best of the 3. i wish there was more to it on the bottom though. it feels like it would be stronger if the bottoms of those cars weren't cut off.
the second image is a great study of form and shape but it doesn't seem like a street photo to me.
the third image is mainly a landscape shot (though you might argue that the presence of the golf course and sprinklers is man's impact on the environment and therefore it's a street photo). i'd wish the water was easier to see (more contrast... higher angle?) and i don't think that the buildings in the upper left corner of the image really add anything to the image.
Bertram2 : are you setting up your tripod or taking these "motion" images on the fly?
Bingley : i like it. he's got a shadow flower growing out of his cap.
andersju : good lighting. uninspiring space (the window frame doesn't add much to the composition).
