Does anyone have any idea of a product which satisfies my need for a shutter release cable/facility for the R-D1 which has an inbuilt timer. I had one of these about 25 years ago and it was a simple mechanical counter down gizmo which would inject the pin as it reached the end of its cycle.

I want to use the R-D1 to capture some group shots but I also want to be in the frame!

Here you go -- twenty bucks at B&H, but it's currently on back-order:

You also might check eBay for a used one, or try some large local camera stores. At one time this was a very common accessory -- I've still got one that I use on my R-D 1.

Tip: These accessories usually have an adjustment for how far the plunger extends -- make sure you adjust it just long enough to release the shutter, but no longer, to avoid the risk of damaging the camera.
