When I joined RFF I went through the entire gallery before I even uploaded an image. Then I lived in the gallery and knew or paid little attention to the forums. I'm still sort of that way. Images are what I live for. Discussion is good but I like to shoot. I like to see what others are doing. I'm continually amazed by the excellence of the photography at this site. So as I'm going through, I may report back with links this time, because when I see someone who is inactive or new it could be interesting to share with 'relative' new-comers like me. See you in the galleries

Good idea, Jan. There are a lot of great images on this site.
I must admit I probably don't spend enough time going through the gallery.
And I really have to prune mine somewhat.

Peter

Jan,
Your comment [a while ago] on the lack of gallery input made me load up images there and made me visit the gallery.

In my book, you're good for this place Jan, I'm giving you the MVP (most valuable poster) this month!

That's great, Jan. I do enjoy the forums, but nothing motivates me to go out and shoot like the fine images I find in the gallery. Thanks for the reminder.

I'd love to see us revive the "Photos of the Week" thread, where members would post their 5~10 favorite of the week. That was fun!

The Gallery has always been a source for inspiration and encouragement for me!

🙂

Jann, you are one of the few remaining on this, and at least one other sites, that keep things in focus (cough). Good idea you have here.

Bud, I feel exactly the same.
Jan, will surely meet you in the Gallery.
Photos of the week seems to me a good idea ... and Rich already started a new thread for the purpose ...

Bye

Rich, can't thank you enough for this it is what we need to let eachother know what is happening in the galleries. Already been there and saw one of my fave photographers pieces I'd missed! So you know that proves it is worthwhile!

I would never have posted anything had those comments not woken me up. The current vigour of the gallery, and ultimately all that has come from it, is - I think - very largely due to Jan: a testament to the work, dedication and passion of a very fine photographer.

Thankyou Jan!

Best Wishes, Ian

I agree about that. Jan's passion for the photographic results has been refreshing amongst all the focus on gear (and I LIKE gear-threads!) 🙂

Jan, I admire and respect your dedication to the gallery side of RFF, and your comments in the past were always greatly appreciated, however considering to total membership of the site, I was always greatly disappointed by the number of viewings that peoples work got, never mind my own. That is why I deleted all my own stuff, and now post them elsewhere. Sadly these forums tend to attract more equipment aquirers than photographers.
