The (London) Times has as article today on the death of film and how it has lead to panic buying of film cameras. Has it? The article states that Japan has seen the effects of this so far with film cameras demanding a 'premium of £700', and that the boom may be reaching the UK shores soon. I'm not sure where they picked up their valuations from, but they reckon a silver M6 would reach £8000 and a Canon P £1500. If I sold my M6 and P for that amount I would be looking at a nearly 1000% return on investment!

I only hope that this article forces thousands of people around the country to dig out their old rangefinder gear from the attic and to make it available to us!

Alas ... if only this were true. I could sell my Nikkormats and retire early.

Given the prices of film cameras today, I'd say panic selling is a more realistic way to describe it.

I find it hard to believe. Nikon still makes the F6 and low-end FM10.

I figure the S3-2000 was my "last new film camera". At $2,300 with the 50/1.4, case, and hood, that is less than what they went for in the '50s (adjusted for inflation). If Nikon can push the S3 and SP back into production, anything can be brought back out if there is enough demand.
