Tiny nick / scratch on rear element of 35mm 1.4 Asph...

and have flat out tortured it in terms of trying to reveal the nick's affect on image quality. Other than the barely detectable out of focus darker area seen against a white wall at F16, I see nothing but perfect images. .

Good luck convincing the future purchaser. I think people will pass on this lens. Are you sure you're not only considering this lens because it's in your possession? If you plan on keeping it, get a quote (not an estimate) from Leica and add a bit.

I tested it on the A7ii this morning, overall it is fine except when a point light source hits the nick it flares pretty much as expected. I'm way ahead of you sir, the part is on order from Leica, the overall cost at the high end will be well within what I originally paid for the lens.

All will be well and I am not selling it anytime soon, I bought it to use it.

Ciao!

Sounds like a good outcome.
Do you mind disclosing the cost of the replacement rear element (I assume that's the part)?

An update, the final cost of replacing the rear element was less than $300, it works perfectly now. I was seeing flares and marks in some shots from that tiny little nick.

I also had my M6TTL upgraded to the MP RF patch and the 135 and 90 framelines removed, I'm all set, glad I was patient.

Take the partial refund, shoot with it and have Leica replace the element in your next CLA with the money you got back 🙂
