Tips for overcoming the average metering on Minolta X-700

Walter, you might get slightly different light readings between lenses if there is any difference in light transmission between them. Differences in light transmission could be caused by the number of lens elements in the respective lenses, different brands and different coating of the lens elements, and such. This is one of the advantages of TTL/through-the-lens metering.

In theory, a UV filter is clear and requires no additional exposure. Any difference in light transmission through the lens with a filter would be caused by additional internal reflection between the filter and the front lens element. If the filter has any coating, this is unlikely under normal lighting.
