TLA 360 flash with the G system
Hello Everyone.

I have a contax G2 and G1. I normally use the TLA 200 (3 pin) on them, but lately i've been using the TLA 360 on the G cameras. Always in TTL mode.

When i use the TLA 360 (5 pin), on my Contax RX SLR the ISO and aperture are automatically set on the flash, and you can read the changes in the LCD screen on the flash. (TTL mode)

On my G cameras they are not, even in TTL mode. I can change the aperture and ISO, and no change is reflected on the LCD screen of the flash.

I noticed that the RX has 5 pins, and the G system has three.

DO i manually have to set the ISO and aperture on the TLA 360 flash?

I suspect not, but i want to be sure.

Thanks.

I do not think you have to do that, as with TTL flashes, the camera cuts off the flash when the film is properly exposed, not the flash itself. The flash only needs to know in A mode, where it measures itself, not so in TTL mode.

Thanks, the scans i got back looked fine.

I have the TLA 280 and another older Contax TTL flash (TLA30?) - both do fully interface with the G1, but these were still three-pin. Metz flashes with the last SCA 3802 series adapter (which is five pin) do connect perfectly to the G1 as well - so it is not impossible to create a G1 compatible five pin Contax flash. Maybe something on your flash is broken - or it simply wasn't created to be fully backward compatible.
