Melanie:

That's a stunning Rollei photo, worthy of gracing the cover of a new Rollleiflex brochure. Taken, I assume, with the D70s?

Once I used TLR cameras (Mamiya and Yashica) and loved them. However, when camera manufacturers abandoned the TLR design, I had to switch to another medium format camera design (rangefinder) when it came time to replace my worn TLR cameras.

I've just been rebitten by the TLR bug after a 2 decade period of remission. At that time, I traded my Ikoflex Favorit, Rolleicord V, Minolta C3, & darkroom in for a "more convenient" 35mm setup. Raising a family had relegated the more time consuming aspects of photography to the back-burner for the time being. After having re-entered the scene through 35mm SLR/Rangefinder territory, I've been recently reseduced by MF advantages in general, and the TLR's charms in particular, ignited, at least in part, by the emergence of this new forum. Such being the case, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of 2 Minoltas (a meterless Autocord & a Minoltaflex) en route to my home as I write.

Alright, fine . . . . But please don't ask me to attend any group therapy meetings.:D

I found this in a local thift store. My original intention was to replace an older Yashica-Mat which I purchased a week earlier, and now I'm using both. I wasn't sold on it because of the pink filter BTW, but hey . . .

Oh . . . Glad to be here, also.

I have a Mamiya C330f with the 80mm and the 55mm. I dont use it as much as I should, but I'm getting all the kit to process black and white film at home, so I shall probably use it more to do Infra-red work.

just bought a Yashica 124G, i am pleasantly surprised the old battery still works. I have not expected that.

The meter is pretty accurate for street scenes. I will admit the lens is not on par with modern lenses I owen, but for street work it is pretty easy.

You sure are. My advice: Leave all other cameras home for a couple of weeks until using the Rollei becomes a familiar old friend. Great camera.

I'm new to TLR also (Rolleiflex 3.5F), but I love using it. Now I take it everywhere in spite of its size. Really love that camera. The only thing difficult for me is to frame correctly (I tend to tilt my frame) ... so it takes me years to frame ... I'll wait for street photography

Shutterflower:

I see your photo of the Rollei and the Bronica 645 rangefinder. My friend just bought one and let me play with it yesterday. Wow, what a camera! Smooth lens and snappy viewfinder image. Getting a bit of GAS.

I've got three: a Primoflex, Ricohflex and a Walzflex. I use all three regularly and am not ashamed to admit it.

I own a Ciro-flex Model D TLR. I bought it on an impulse, but I never regretted it.
It doesn't see much use...about 1 roll of film a year.

You could do worse.

Yes, Melanie, I could have done worse!

Finally my Rolleiflex has arrived! What a beauty she is!!

It was sold on Ebay as a Rolleiflex C 3.5, but I think it is a Rolleiflex E 3.5 (Planar 3.5/75 mm) with uncoupled meter, which seems to be pretty accurate even after 50 years!

Anyway, I was so excited I underexposed the first film by one stop cause I forgot to set the film speed on the Rollei and on my handheld meter. At least the film is uniformly underexposed in every picture, so the shutter seems to work very well.

Hope to do better with the exposure of the next rolls tomorrow!

Michael

Yes, I have a few. Two Zeiss Ikon Ikoflexes, four Minolta Autocords, a Ricohflex, a Lubitel and an old Weltaflex. Used to have four more Autocords, two more Ikoflexes, a couple Ricoh Diacords and assorted other oddballs. Sliming down my collection to those that I actually use on a semi-regular basis.

With the exception of the Welta, they are all serviced and working as they should. I use the Ikoflexes and a couple Autocords regularily. 20-30 rolls a year go through them. The Ikoflex is my favorite camera after my Contax IIa and/or IIIa. Followed by my Zeiss Ikon Mess Ikonta 524/16. Which is a fine rangefinder in its own right.

In fact I just spent the day with my favorite Autocord, my wife and my dogs, in the woods photographing the fall colors. Life can get no better than that!

Oh, YES I DO! :)

The arsenal:

-- Two Tele Rolleiflexes.

-- Rolleiflex 3.5E (my first)

-- Rolleiflex 2.8C

-- Rolleiflex MX-EVS

-- Voigtlander Superb

I shoot the Tele Rolleiflexes most all the time.
Visit www.flickr.com/sandersnyc for samples.
(WARNING: Some nude images posted there.)

The Voigtlander Superb is an odd and rare duck.
It has an uncoated 75mm Heliar taking lens and
produces fun images. Here are a few:

The Voigtlander will never take the place
of my Rolleiflexes but it is a fine choice when
desiring a softer look.

You mean it worked to transplant a RZ screen to the 3.5f, rlouzan? If you can, please post some pictures. I am awaiting my own MX-EVS back from CLA, so I can do something about the dark screen.

EDIT: Ah, looked at the page mentioned again and found out mine may need some shims to work. Let's see what gives...
