Just developed these. I use a water softener so I don't know if that has any effect on the process, but i often get those little specs throughout the negatives. There are other issues too, my water temp is usually to warm and i try and compensate the development time. I use liquid Tmax developer and Ilford fixer. anyway, this is about as good as i ever get on my own. rob

Hi!

When compensating the dev time according to the water temp I've found this website helpful:

http://www.phototec.de/infomag_erechner.php

The page is in german but quite self explanatory ("entwickler" means developer).

For those white specs you might try rinsing your negs in purified water with a few drops of wetting agent.

My 2-cents worth,

Dear Rob,

As well as distilled water for a final rinse, consider a Paterson water filter on the tap: http://www.rogerandfrances.com/subscription/mt paterson water filter.html. I get MUCH cleaner negs in my present house because of using one of these.

Cheers,

R.

Roger - thanks for that reference to the Paterson filter system. I am going to investigate purchasing one of those as it seems like a practical solution to some of the more expensive filters on the market.

Cheer, Jaans.

It took me a long time to get everything just right with TMax100. In fact I'm still tweaking a little. I find both TMY-2 and TMX difficult. But I still like them for many situations.

As for the specks, you have good answers above.

On the specks

On the specks

I have a terrible time with specks on some films but not others??

I have a brick of Adox CHS100 and every roll has lots of white (after scanning) specks throughout.

I've also recently had an issue with some Pan F+.

But I've had no problems with CHS25, Tmax100, 3200 etc.

It could be intermittent water issues - I hadn't considered that - but it drives me mad when it happens.

Any other ideas?

Mike
