Tmax400 Images Thread

I ran into my friend, Andy here recently in Liverpool.I had never met his Mother.I think I captured a little tenderness here. He loved it and so did his Mum. Also, he was impressed at the speed at which I uploaded it to Facebook - being film and all!

I see T-max400 as an obvious improvement of TriX, but TriX seems to be a far more popular film. Why?

Erik.

Personally I find T-MAX400 to be too clinical without any soul (I mean grain:D) for my general use. If I want clinical I'll use a digital camera. I feel the same way about Delta400, but I much prefer T-MAX to Delta.

Add that to the cost, it's priced out of the market here in Australia (really all Kodak is), last time I saw it it was A$295 for a 30m can. Compared to Tri-X, also priced out at A$195, HP5+ at A$95 (Delta 400 is ~ A$120), and Foma 400 @ A$70

It was the first film I used when I got back into film, and I do like it pushed to 1600 (Foma 400 doesn't do that!) but I use HP5+ for my pushing needs now.

Yes, personal taste and style are important too, that is why it is important that there is a choice.

Thanks all for the great images! It reminds me that I have a roll of TMAX400 120 in the freezer. I think I'll thaw it out, re-spool it to 620, load it up in the Medalist II and shoot it this weekend.

Such a underrated film, always living in the shadow of tri-x

I should go shoot my stash - everyone calls it clean and sterile, but that's what I enjoy about it, it's that HD wide tonal range

So much good stuff in this thread.
I have several rolls to scan from the last couple years.
Need to set up A long overdue date with the digital darkroom.
For now another older image.
