I too wish there were no particular reason for there to be an "International Women's Day" and could get into a fairly arcane discussion about power, hegemony, marked vs. unmarked categories, etc. but I'll spare you the cultural anthropological diatribe.

At any rate, it is a pretty picture and I appreciate the sentiment. I'm not sure when was the last time I got flowers for any occasion!

Here in Minnesota, because we're a liberal, socially minded state, we give them a day and a half.

I think its kind of funny that on international women's that a flowers is being offered instead of a good beer.

Wouldn't it be more egalitarian offer a pint or two?
