We're all light!
I read this, hearing the faint sound of a tongue ever-so-lightly planted in-cheek. If I wanted to read a straight-on (and idiotic) diatribe against Macs, I'd read whatever John Dvorak has written over the last six years or so. Besides, a smooth-running Mac is the best revenge.Trius said:"I hate Macs. I have always hated Macs. I hate people who use Macs. I even hate people who don't use Macs but sometimes wish they did. Jorge Torralba said:I have been looking at the new Apple Cinema displays since I need a new monitor. However, they are so expensive1k for a 23" monitor. However, I can get an iMac with an Intel employee discount for a good price. The question are ... I'm a windows/PC guy, how will this new iMac affect my work flow. Also, is the display as good as the stand alone apple 23" monitor?
Like you, Jorge, I've been contemplating a switch very soon relating to my computing needs. Fortunately, the Apple website is filled with helpful onlineseminars, and demos to inform & educate.
Photography isn't the only reason to go with an iMac for me, as I do video production as well. Final Cut Pro, Aperture, iWork, and iLife will afford me the ability to perform most of my needs more effeciently, professionally, and with greater creativity. And all of the programs work seamlessly together!
Since hard drives are readily available now at fair prices, I only need to concentrate on the best graphics, memory, and processor speed. So on that score I'll max those out, and go for an iMac 24" like yourself. Unfortunately the nearest Apple store is 100 miles away, but ordering direct online, I can get the configuration I need without worry.
After nearly 20 years of Windows, I've had enough of the constant crashes, never-ending upgrades, and endless "new & improved" virus protection.
