To match "rare FED" - a "Rare Zorki"!

Well I suppose there's a resemblance to the inexpert. I've been wondering about the conversations that must lead to this kind of listing...

"Hey, can you sell this old camera for me on your eBay account? "

"Sure, what is it? Oh - it's Russian! Zerum? Zehum? I can't make it out!"

"Let's have a look what's already on offer......Zorki, could that be it?"

"Yeah, must be Zorki - put it on as that, it'll do"

He also has a "Rare" Zorki.4K... and some Star Wars stuff... hmmm... 🙄

I love sellers that jot down one line or less [of mis-spelled words] explaining they know nothing about the item they're selling, so that's why it's sold "as is." Then they give you 5 paragraph's explaining nine ways to give them money and you'd better not try to rip 'em off and "this is what you'll get if you do!!!"

And this guy has the gall to end his "Rare Zorki" ad with a red-letter note "to scammers." 😀 Geez. Too funny.

No worse than the "extremely rare" FED 1 also listed, where the seller claims:

The viewfinder is very clean and works correctly – the system employed here is much more efficient than the one in Zorki 1

I'm tempted to ask how FED achieved that with an identical (AFAIK) system!

With an Official FSU RARE Magic Wand. You don't have one of those? 😉

Seriously, for those of us who venture out into the dangerous waters of the Bay looking for FSU Treasure, we really should occasionally start clicking "Ask Seller a Question" just to let a few of these guys know there are a few out here that know at least a little about such things and won't be buying obviously misrepresented FSU items. For some time now, the number of Sellers of FSU gear has risen dramatically and I get the feeling sometimes that a popular thought is, "Ehhhh, just throw it up there... they'll buy anything."

Oooops! LOL!! I was just rumaging around over at ZorkiKat's website and found a picture of that very model Zenit SLR with a caption underneath that started with, "The Zenit could be considered as an SLR Zorki." What are the odds that the above mentioned seller googled "Zenit SLR" and landed on Jay's website? Anyway, interesting reading... check it out.

Obviously this seller would be ideal to work in customer care. I tried to buy some Kodak colour film in Leningrad in 1987 in a foreign currency shop. I could see it on the shelf and the charming assistant just kept saying "No, we haven't got any" until I gave up and walked away. This sort of thing is too common - I was in Jessops Classics in London last month. As I wlaked in the charming assistant came over and asked me if I could ask for anything I wanted soon as they were closing. Not surprisingly, I didn't buy anything. I said I was a multimillonaire trying to collect every model of Leica and every lens and accessory and I would buy the shop and sack him on my first day as owner. Actually, I didn't say that I just went to the pub.

Maybe the problem is a language barrier - there certainly is an alphabetical one!!

It seems that nearly every FSU camera for sale on evil-bay is "rare". Even the Zorki-4, which was by far the longest in production, is often billed as "rare". I have (in some cases more than one) every model of Zorki from 1 to 6, except the 2 -- now that one is RARE!! It's also a good bit more expensive than the other models, except for the vaunted "FED-Zorki", which seems to be the rarest bird of all -- and the most expensive.

I have one Zorki-3 that came with an instruction book. Guess what - it's in Russian, which I am totally innocent of. It could be that the same thing works in reverse.

Does anyone go onto Ebay and search for "Rare"?
"rare" turned up 167751 items overall and 254 in photgraphy (most of which weren't rare, of course!)

well, over here in australia there are quite a number zorkis modified to fake "leicas" asking for ridiculous amounts of money, claimed to be rare in the local photographic equipment trading magazine!

Hi,

It maybe a language barrier. Once I thought "scarce" is less often seen than "rare". Once I thought rare is just less often seen, less common, but it could mean something one may not see in person for his life time. Am I right?😀 My Chinese 1000mm f6.3 mirror lens is rare.
