I have read different opinions as to using a J-12 LTM mount lens on a Canon P. So, using my normal scientific method (which consists of me saying, "Oh well, what the H*LL! I'll try it!") I mounted a 1962 J-12 on my Canon P and shot a roll of Kodak 200 Gold in different lighting conditions.

Here are some of the results from a $40 35mm lens........

That first one is excellent. I always liked the J-12 I had on my Canon 7; nice little lens.

Nice pics, Wayne.

This is one of my favored combos, although it's mostly from an "equipment-harmony" point of view right now. My J-12 is my only 35mm RF lens, and with all my 50s laying about, it doesn't get much use. You can see from my current avatar, however, that I do like it on the P.

There are a few threads addressing this combination, including this one; I think you're fortunate to have found a J-12 that fit nicely, since I had originally understood the early examples to have fitment problems. Bravo.

Wayne, I'll second William's special praise for that first portrait! I've got THREE J-12s now, and I've gotten very nice results with the one (of two in Contax mount) that fits my Kiev 2. (The mount was reshaped after production was moved to Leningrad, I think, and some serious filing would be required to get my Leningrad one to fit the Kiev.) The Leica-mount one doesn't get as much use as I'd like, alas, as I have a Canon 7, not a P, and the 7 has light baffles that just barely get in the way. And with the CL it's out of the question -- it would clobber the little meter-stick that swings down in front of the film plane. (The solution is obvious, of course... get another camera! But that's another story...)
