Tom Abrahamsson Knowledge Base Volunteers Wanted!

I'll finally have some free time this weekend, so I'll start writing a draft of the project charter. We'll have to sort out some details to finish it up, so be sure to check back on Monday.

Ok, maybe I didn't have time over the weekend. I'll try again this weekend when I'm in a food coma.

I can help

I can help

Stephen,
What a wonderful idea! I can help write/edit. Tom was a great guy and I am very happy to help build his well-deserved legacy.
Best regards,
Eric

Folks,

I've been occupied with lots of stuff, but lately the local wild fires were a problem and kept my focus elsewhere.

Now things are starting get back to normal.

Stephen

We need volunteers for technical manager and volunteer coordinator (and any other roles you can think of, e.g., publicist).

looks good to me.
what I can provide is all the posts,
sorted by the forum they were posted in.

of course a search of them will also bring up whatever subjects you might be searching for.

Great! I can probably look at the export of posts and make a project plan, etc. on Sunday, so I'll set up Google Drive, Slack, and Trello when I get home.

Would any of the current volunteers like to be the volunteer coordinator? Also, it would be great if someone here who has the latest web design skills could be the technical manager, but I can do that in a pinch.

Back on the trail again! Everyone who expressed interest will be getting a PM for your email so you can be added to the project's Google Drive, Slack, and Trello.

If anyone is interested in being the Volunteer Coordinator or Technical Manager, the positions are still open.

As always, the first order of business is to clean the spreadsheet. Posts with commas and carriage returns are broken up into multiple column cells and rows. I'll see if this can be automated, otherwise it'll have to be done manually.

Sorry the project has been dead for so long. A couple people recently asked what's up, so I posted a doc to the Google Drive folder to illustrate the problem with cleaning the export of posts.

If anybody's in the mood to clean up the spreadsheet manually, let me know! :D

No change since my last post. We have a several options to get over this problem:

1. Volunteers grit their teeth and clean the spreadsheet by hand. It's not the kind of work you'd want to do for free, though.

2. We find a volunteer for technical manager who has the right programming skills to clean the spreadsheet.

3. We come up with a workflow that doesn't involve the export at all.

Or maybe someone has other ideas?
