Ah, the sweet memories of shooting weddings!

I don't want to hijack the OP's thread...but the one that sticks out in my mind was the wedding that I shot of my best college buddy who married a Playboy Playmate in 1966. Yes, Playmates really do exist and they are spectacular.

But I digress; while they were honeymooning in the Caribbean, I assembled an expensive 8x10 wedding album as my gift to them. They returned after one week.....separated and immediately divorced.

I still have the album, somewhere.

it went really well!
i had a great time…the oldest 'child' was around 33, the youngest just 21 and of course, mom!
they are a great looking family and had lots of positive energy. it was like a therapy session for me to be surrounded by all that young and positive energy!

i took over 500 shots and distilled that down to just under 70. i did minimal post processing and created a private viewing group for them to see the images. they have posted a few on facebook and i have shared those on facebook as well.

i feel a bit awkward posting the shots…one of the sons is a professional model under exclusive contract to a fabulosuly well known nyc photographer and i'm not sure about displaying any solo portrait shots of him.
he was not sure either…
when i look at the images i mostly see the mistakes and things i missed doing…they seem very pleased though.

We are always our own worst critics! The social events and portraits I've done are always full of post processing angst, wondering if the client will be happy.. even when it's for a neighbour or friend..

Being self-critical is healthy but in the end it's how the client feels that matters 🙂

Glad you had a good time and everyone walked away happy, Joe. If you can share a few pictures that would be nice, but don't sweat over it.

I think you will find a wider lens handy - this 18 is like a 27mm, right?

Really like #2 - excellent portrait! Prefer the bw version of #3 as it tends to minimise b/g more than colour version. It's hard to get everyone with eyes open and looking good in a group portrait and you've done that very well. #4 is a very nice shot of the 2 girls (peas in a pod!) but I see a green tint on my monitor (edit: could be reflected light off foliage? Only seems to affect girl on the left). With #1 my personal preference would be to see him looking at camera, but that's just me.. I'm sure there are others..

thanks for posting these photos, I agree with Lynn and find n°2 great and prefer the B&W version of 3. It seems you enjoyed the day and manage to make a good job, bravo.

I like no 2 best as well, the B&W look better to me, I would like the two sisters shot in mono also–they are attractive, no doubt.

the twins were also given the b&w treatment…i just didn't post them here.

i shot about 500 pics and edited down to less than 70…some were left as colour and some were done as both.
