Canada, eh.
The various photo forums are a bit slow tonight. I've been searching around for an interesting thread but can't really find one. Yesterday was the Ralph Gibson thread where Joe volunteered to pose nude. What could we discuss tonight? Something a little controversial to get the blood moving, but we all have to keep on best behav.

Any ideas?

How about the NWO, the new world order, is it real, is it bogus.
will it affect photography?
will the moderator close this thread if it gets kinda juicy and interesting.

Okay, here's a more pleasant image: young women who pose nude, are photographers exploiting them? I'm talking artistic nudes, not porn. Are they naive or do they simply have a healthy attitude to the naked body?

New world order, that sounds interesting, could we save that for later? Or let the readers have their choice and we'll stick to one topic or the other for this thread, and possibly begin a new one ofr the other.

Although I would jump at the chance to photograph a beautiful woman nude I doubt there is much of anything new to say in that area. It has been done thousands of times from probably every angle and under every lighting condition in both B&W and color.

Having said that I am working with a model who has agreed to pose at least partially nude for me at some point and I of course will take her up on it. She is imo a beautiful woman and I am partial to em'. 😀

John, you must have missed the secret handshake last time we met.

I'm still going for the nude model question. How many of you have been in a photo class or hired a nude model or talked a friend/lover into modelling? How many of you have daughters? What do you think about the different perspectives?

A George Orwell 1984 world, with cctv cameras to be found all around.
where personal cameras are confiscated.
where a licence is needed indulge in photography.

I have the same closet, John... and I have sons.

Speaking of daughters, though... what about the works of Jock Sturges. High quality photos that are neither artistic nor photojournalistic. Large format pics of naked kids (generally young girls) taken with an 8x10 camera. Yet clearly not pornography and done with the consent/participation of hte families. Some call it pronography; I call it "healthy attitude ot naked body" yet still feel a bit creeped out looking at them.

I think it's quite conlicting for fathers of daughters (I am) because, what man has never objectified an attractive woman, been innocent of applying a double standard with regards to sex, and what father is comfortable allowing an adult female chilld to be an adult? (there's that double standard!)

xayra33, you're sounding a little paranoid. Don't draw attention to yourself so !

Is that possible? Isn't that like getting a buzz from Zima or quenching your thirst with sap?

OK, I'll try: If photography is such a male-dominated field, why is it that everybody smiles at a woman photographer?

No, wait: if I'm from Mexico, and Mexico is in the American continent, isn't "Mexican-American" redundant? I'd think German-European would be redundant.

I got it! Coffee: no true connoisseur would soil it with cream or sugar. I don't know, I use Silk creamer and Splenda.

Twak amongst yosews.

I'd hope my (or anyone else's) daughter, should she decide posing nude is a good idea, would negotiate a contract up front (and in writing) for acceptable usage of the resulting photos so that she could sue the photog into his/her next lifetime for any misuse.

Ah...late to the true controversy.

Now *that* is a controversy. Unless, of course, you are in a society that is concerned with other matters. They see the flip side of the coin: why do former English colonies obsess with nudity so?

See, I don't have anything in a locked safe in the bedroom. I have sharp knives handy on the kitchen counter. I believe the consequence/punishment should fit the crime.
