Tonight's super Moon

It was supposed to be at its best at moonrise, which was about 7:25 here. By the time I thought about going outside it was close to 10pm.
 
While the moon was closest to the earth in its orbit, with the distances involved, the subtended angle change doesn't make for a significant visual difference. Has anyone done the math for that?

I don't have a suitable lens either, so I just enjoyed looking at it with our clear sky last night.

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson said the "super moon" is to a regular full moon what a 16" pizza is to a 15" pizza.

Yeah, it was midnight by the time we got a look at it here, so all size reference was lost by then, but I hauled out the telephoto gear anyway.

I think a frame of reference is preferred when shooting the super-moon, don't you think?
(No, I didn't shoot the moon and never have so take this with a grain of 16" pizza. 🙂 )
